THANKS FOR THE MANNA FLAKES

Do you like eating the same cereal every day, or do you like a change?

Godęs Old Testament people traveled in the wilderness for forty years. They complained because God was feeding them the same breakfast every dayăsomething called –manna,” which means, –What is it?” It fell from the sky while they slept. Theyęd wake up and say, –What is it?”

They could have made fun meals out of manna. Think of the possibilities: bamanna bread, hamanna sandwiches, scrambled manna, fried manna, bamanna splits!

But the people complained. Maybe they said, –Manna, manna every day. Give us something chickens lay!” Man, oh, manna, God gave them breakfast every day! They could have had fun creating new heavenly meals! God was doing great things for them but they missed his blessings by being ungrateful.

Donęt miss the great things God is doing in your life today. He has great plans for you! Start by enjoying and thanking God for the food he provided for you today. Then look for other blessings and thank God for all his gifts! Say this as you start your day: The Lord has done great things for us and we are filled with joy” (Psalm 126:3)

FOR CRYING OUT LOUD

Did you know that humans are the only animals that cry? There are some things I donęt understand about crying. Maybe you know the answers.

  1. When we get hurt around a lot of people, why do we try not to cry, even though it really hurts?
  2. Why is it easier to cry around mom than dad?
  3. What are those funny little gasps that come out of us after we stopped crying?
  4. If someone cries a lot, can they run out of tears?
  5. If someone never cries, will tears burst out of their eyes when they are old?
  6. Do tears taste salty because we eat too much salt on our food?
  7. Donęt you think itęs great that we can also cry when we are happy?
  8. Why did Jesus cry?

Jesus cried? Yep, and he cried in front of other people. He didnęt hide it. When Jesusę friend, Lazarus, died, the Bible says, –Jesus wept.” And the people around him said, "See how he loved him!" (John 11:35-36). Jesus knows what itęs like to be sad.

God created us with emotions, and he gave us tears to relieve our sadness. If you feel like having a sad cry todayŔgo ahead! Jesus understands. He loves you and can make you feel better! You have his Word on it. Just remember how much God loves you and have a great day!

ARE YOU WIDE AWAKE?

According to National Geographic, in an average lifetime, the average American blinks 393,674,400 times. That means his or her eyes are shut for:

          a) 4 months
          b) 9 months
          c) 18 months

The answer is "c"ă18 months. Wow! Our eyes are shut a lot! We miss out on seeing a year and a half worth of things! And that doesnęt count sleeping! I read that in an average lifetime, the average American spends 24 years sleeping!

I also read 1 Thessalonians 5:6 that says, "So let us not be like the others. They are asleep. Instead, let us be wide awake and in full control of ourselves."

That doesnęt mean God doesnęt want us to sleep or blink! But we are to beware of the temptations to sin all around us. A classmate or even a best friend may tempt us to do something wrong. Words or actions from TV or a song could tempt us to sin. Stay awake! Be alert so you will say "NO!" to Satan and –YES!” to Godęs ways.

Itęs time for a blink-off! Choose a partner and stare into each otheręs eyes. See who can last the longest without blinking!
